Xinzhou City, located in the north and middle of Shanxi Province, is known as the "key to the north of Shanxi". It is adjacent to Datong and Shuozhou in the north, Taiyuan in the south, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia across the Yellow River in the west and Hebei in the east. Xinzhou has jurisdiction over 13 counties, 191 towns and 4888 administrative villages in Xinfu District, Yuanping City and Dingxiang, Wutai, Daixian County, Fanshi, Ningwu, Jingle, Shenchi, Wuzhai, Kelan, Hequ, Baode and Pianguan District, with a total area of 251500 square kilometers.
